Launching “Local Takes”

When a film project really excites me, I can’t help sharing it with you. This week I’m really jazzed to announce a new independent project I’m co-producing with my dear friend Trey Morrow.

There are opportunities for you to join us, but more on that later…

Local stories with local artists

After a year of preproduction, we’re rolling cameras on local artists for our independent mini-doc series, Local Takes. Six talented Spartanburg artists have graciously invited us into their personal spaces to tell their stories in ~3min episodes, and we’re shooting the first interview next week. Each episode will dive into the artist’s journey, what inspires and challenges them, and what it means to be an artist living and working in Spartanburg, SC.

Sharing these stories will reinforce the community we see here, and perhaps draw some new talent and voices from outside.

Want updates?

Although I’ll be posting occasional updates here, to get all of our behind-the-scenes updates along the way you’ll want to like, follow, and share Local Takes on Facebook (facebook.com/localtakes) and Instagram (@LocalTakes), and go to to localtakes.com to request email updates.

Can you join us?

Local Takes is funded by sponsorships from local businesses and with individual contributions. If you or an organization you work with would like to get involved, please email us: localtakes@gmail.com.

I hope those of you who live in or around Spartanburg will seize the opportunity to engage with our local arts through these stories, and those of you living further from us will celebrate the unique voices in Local Takes and help us share them with the world.

This is really exciting for me; family life, client work, and growing my business have required my full attention for several years, so I haven’t co-produced an independent film since Bone to the Dog (2013). It feels great to dive back in, and I can’t wait to share these stories with you.

Thanks for joining us on this journey!
