Film and Video Production Templates
Preparation is key for a successful production. Below you’ll find storyboard, script, and preproduction templates I’ve created and refined over the years to fit my needs. You can also message me if you have feedback or suggestions for future additions.
Use & modify these as much as you’d like; the templates on this page are shared under a Creative Commons 0 license.

Script Templates
These templates can be somewhat interchangeable, but generally video scripts dictate clear visuals while a film script reads more like a stageplay with emphasis on dialogue. Depending on font size, both templates can often work out to a one-minute-per-page ratio, which is a helpful estimate in preproduction.
Video Script Template
When scripting short videos, it’s helpful to use this two-column format with audio on one side and visuals on the other. We want to see b-roll, graphics, and images matched up with the relevant dialogue. If we see large gaps in the visuals column, with a lot of dialogue on the audio side, we might want to develop more visuals or trim the voiceover.

Storyboard Templates
Vertical, 8-Panel Storyboard Template
This fits a decent number of panels on the page with a line for the shot name or a small note.

6-Panel Cinemascope Storyboard Template
I typically use this layout: 6 storyboard panels on a horizontal page, with lots of room for notes. There’s a box to put the shot number for each panel, and shot types you can circle (e.g. “CU” for a close-up).
