What a gorgeous weekend at the Tryon International Film Festival…
I believe stories forge connection. I believe stories heal wounds. And I believe stories help us understand ourselves. This weekend was a true celebration of story at the Tryon International Film Festival. I saw amazing films from around the world.
Big thanks to all of you who came to Tryon this past weekend to support us, and other filmmakers from around the world. We had a wonderful audience for the five documentary short films we presented, and we enjoyed dozens of films from old friends and new ones.
Watch our recap below, and remember, you can revisit all of the Local Takes films on YouTube any time.
I am so grateful and humbled that TRIFF selected our Local Takes documentaries, grateful for my coproducer Trey who is an incredible storyteller and collaborator, and most of all, I am grateful for the artists who allowed us to dig deep with them so we could make these documentaries into powerful stories. We crafted these narratives into short films, but the stories came from these artists and their experiences first.
We screened alongside so many great films, and wonderful friends, including Destiny Macon with “Creator’s Crisis,” Collins Abbott White with “The Birthday Butterfly,” and Christina Capra and Jessie Robertson with their doc “Karen Paden Crouch: In the Land of Make Believe.”
…We were really in good company!
Love our local film community here in the Carolinas, and the big global film community around us.

Thanks to all of you who support independent artists and filmmakers!
